The-U18-Team

The-U18-Team is a group of 16-18 year old volunteers supported by Volunteer Centre Glossop to organise entertainment nights in the Glossop area for local Secondary School Students. We get together regularly to talk about what events we think will be popular, design posters and tickets, write press releases, plan ticket sales and publicity and eat lots of biscuits!

With funding received from Derbyshire County Council, The-U18-Team is also supported by Glossop Constabulary and the Safer Neighbourhood Team, who ensure the safety of students visiting the events.

Our first event was a Y.E.S! Nite at The Moon & Sixpence pub on 29^th September 2009. Y.E.S!, which stands for Youth Entertainment Scene, was the chance for young people to experience all the fun of a night out in Glossop without the alcohol.

High School student bands Odd Squad and Witness The Fitness wowed the crowds, who also took part in a pub quiz and played pool. Prizes for the quiz were itunes vouchers donated by Tesco and a pair of free tickets to the next Harleys Club Nite.

Upcoming Events!!

On Thursday 3^rd December 2009, The-U18-Team will bring you their Wintery Wonderland Nite at Harleys!

From 7pm to 10pm at Harleys Bar in Glossop Town Centre, the event will be just like a regular Club Nite but for students in school Years 7 to 11 only.

This event is ticket entry only due to popularity. Tickets cost £4 and are available from Volunteer Centre Glossop (maximum 2 per person). A limited number of tickets will also be sold in local schools at lunch times between 18^th and 20^th November (1ticket only per person.)

Fancy Dress will be optional, but alcohol, cigarettes and chewing gum will be banned.

Future Events

The-U18-Team will be organising more entertainment nights for students in Glossop in the New Year. Tickets for future events will be available through the Volunteer Centre Glossop.
